we're james & laura gyre... we live with our son river emrys gyre upstairs at our building on penn avenue. we involve ourself in a great many traditional arts and modern pursuits, in an effort to increase global harmony. through our yoga, foodcraft, herbalism, massage and energy therapy we practice the healing arts. through our painting, drawing, building, crafting, dancing, instrument playing and deejaying we practice the cultural arts. through our work with our penn avenue space, local activist groups and festival gatherings we practice the community arts. through our work with the will, words, love, plants, animals, children, elements and magic we practice the esoteric arts. our pursuits exist in the synergy of these interests, be it speaking at a hacker conference, gardening in a ghetto or creating music. modern life compels us to navigate bureaucracy, use the internet, even earn money to achieve balance. the confluence of historic ideals and present circumstances, the search for truth and justice, the paradox of preserving a changing beauty, while far from being new efforts, have gained new dimensions as they play out in our time. those new dimensions are what we're about. we enjoy challenges, new projects and kindred spirits, so if we've piqued your interest, get in touch!
